* A number of independent housestaff associations in New Jersey, Washington DC, Massachusetts, and California affiliated with CIR and played major roles in making CIR a national union. Each of those local organizations had it’s own history, but their leadership names are not reflected on this list. Unfortunately, many documents have been lost that would be needed to reconstruct their stories prior to their affiliation with CIR.
